But in order for me to get my hands on one of these babies, I had to get up real early (4AM) and walk down to Westfield - Stratford (which is only like a 10 min cold walk down the road!) I got there by about 4:20am, and sure enough there was only about 250 - 300 people already in front me, each one itching to get their claws on the new mobile phone.

I must say this has got to be the longest time I have ever had to stand in one place for so long – almost reminded me of 4th grade in back in ecole International where I would have to spend what seemed to be like hours at the back of the class standing for not doing my home work!! But I wasn’t alone, I usually had KP and Suraj on either side of me, lol.. good old times!

So here I was, standing at the back of the Westfield shopping mall since 4 am till the Apple store opened. They finally turned up and the mall opened at 7.45 am and groups of 10 people were escorted inside towards the Apple store: to get a new number and form a new queue!

All in all, I managed to get in, and get my hands on a much desired iPhone4S. Infact, I picked up two: 1 for my wife Kuru Anga as well. Both of us opted for the white one, though she kept telling me I should go for the black one, just to differentiate between the two – But my iPad2 is white & wanted the phone to match it :)

The iPhone 4S is the last iPhone the Apple co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer Steve Jobs worked on before he died on October 5, 2011 due to pancreatic cancer. No doubt he was a great man only made greater with his demise. He is another person who attained immortality & will always be referred to as “the one who put the “i” into everyday objects and made them great.” More about this great man can be read on Wikipedia.

This being my first iPhone, I was pretty excited (Anga was more excited than I was to be honest! lol) Its super fast, smooth and very handy. It’s certainly a welcome upgrade from my HTC HD2 which by the way was an awesome device, but running on Windows Mobile 6.4 made it suck to the core. “Windows, you really need to pull your act together!”

I was rather taken back to hear Siri speak with a Male voice! Darn! After seeing all the videos on YouTube I was looking forward to hear the female version of Siri. No worries, I found out later that once the language is changed from British English to Australian English, the female voice comes on. Hopefully Apple would release more voices with nicer accents.

The iPhone 4S is all in all a super duper phone for now! Only thing that can beat it would probably be the iPhone 5 which could come around next Spring, but till then – Woo Hoo!!
